Cropmarks of the Stour Valley. Information for farmers & landowners

„Concealed within the soil of the Stour Valley are the remains of far earlier landscapes, visible only as cropmarks seen from the air. There cropmarks indicate the remains of settlements, burial places, fields and trackways built by the valley’s early farming communities, and are one of our best sources of information on its past inhabitants.
The conservation of these irreplacable archaeological sites is only possible with the held and good will of local farmers and landowners. This leaflet explains how to find out if you have cropmarks on your land and what you can do to help care for the remains that lie beneath them.“
