At about 10,000 BC, the last Ice Age ends in Europe. The vegetation is a bit varied and hunting/gathering of wild plants secured the food for small groups of migrating people of hte early Mesolithic. Settling is not proven for Middle Europe in this period. In the Mediterranean between Greece and Spain the process of Neolithisation starts in the 7th millennium BC and then moves over the river systems into Middle Europe where in the area between Stuttgart and East France different groups of Neolithic people meet around 5,500 BC: the Band Ceramic People which origin from the Balkans and the carrier oft he La Hoguette Culture which originated from the southern part of France. From this moment on, people all across Europe settled down.
